We are excited to announce that Eva Zamora, a longtime Corazón volunteer and Blue Shirt, will be our featured artist at this year's anniversary celebration. Proceeds from her artwork sales will benefit Corazón.
Eva is a multifaceted artist, photographer, and baker hailing from Los Angeles, California. A passionate advocate for Parkinson’s Disease, Eva has dedicated her life to creativity and community.
Eva studied Fashion Design at UCLA before moving to Mexico, where she chose to raise her daughters and create a unique space for herself. During her 18 years in Mexico, she opened a café and taught her girls the art of baking and business management. This entrepreneurial spirit reflects her dedication to family and her love for hands-on learning.
Photography has been a lifelong passion for Eva, ever since her grandfather gifted her a camera at the age of eight. Self-taught through trial and error, she developed a keen eye for composition and an ability to capture the essence of her subjects. For Eva, photography is a means of preserving memories, reconnecting with people, and revisiting special moments.
Upon returning to California, Eva continued to expand her artistic horizons and her restaurant skills. She then met her husband, Jim, who at the time was already a volunteer for Corazón and soon became involved in the community and
would join him in building homes and dreams for families across the border. Being fluent in Spanish made it easy for her to interact, translate, and get to know everyone.
Today she has 10 years at Corazón under her tool belt.
Eva embraced painting on these builds and is continually inspired by the people she meets and the experiences she shares. The challenging locations at times and the beautiful union between everyone bring together the stories she narrates in her photos. She observes the uniqueness in people, spaces, and details that go unnoticed. Despite being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2013, Eva remains actively involved in her community.
Although she had to step back from some physical activities, she continues to document the efforts of volunteers through her photography, crafting heartfelt stories of people helping people.
Eva’s journey is a testament to resilience and creativity.
She is grateful for the fulfillment and connections that her artistic endeavors and community involvement have brought to her.
