September Scholarship Campaign [EXTENDED TO OCT. 14TH]

Thank you to our matching donor for extending this opportunity!

The deadline for our scholarship campaign is extended*! We fundraised for our scholarship program in September, hoping that we could double the scholarship funds for our students. We’ve fallen short of our goal but it's still not too late. We’ve raised $25,560 and with donations being matched, this means that we raised $51,120 for our September Scholarship Campaign so far. The donations we receive will be used for our student’s educational needs including - registration fees, tuition, school supplies, uniforms, or food.

*entry for the Zenaida Cellar prize will not be extended

Community Member Highlight

We're spotlighting Johanna and Marco this month! Johanna and Marco have been helping staff in Mexico import data about our communities.

"It was a great experience being apart of the Corazón team!" - Johanna

"I entered [this volunteer experience] with the thought of just finishing my service but as I related more with the communities, students and family, the more I forgot that I was performing my service. One of my best experiences was participating in the virtual camp, having fun with the children, and living together. I learned a lot from being here as part of [the Corazón team]. Seeing how they develop as a community, how they perform in their education, and collaborate with each other to improve, is one of the best parts of being here. I say goodbye [from this volunteer position] but remember "it is not a goodbye but a see you soon". - Marco

Thank you Johanna and Marco!

Xochimilco, meaning where the flowers grow or flower field, is one of 16 mayoralities located off the southern end within Mexico City. Xochimilco is home to its chinampas, or floating gardens, that are primarily used for agricultural purposes and tourism. The wetlands are crucial to Mexico’s biodiversity - contributing to oxygen and food production and nutrient recycling.
