Your support is powerful!

For the last several weeks, we have brought you stories of families trying to survive during the pandemic. Here are a few stories about the difference that you have made in the lives of the struggling poor families we serve:

Teresita Campos

The Cumbres community committee member, Dolores Rojas, continues to be a champion for the poor, especially the elderly.  Dolores advocated for Teresita Campos, whose older children with their own families are being squeezed financially because of COVID.  With your contributions, Dolores was able to buy groceries for Teresita  and there was still a bit left over to help Teresita with some extra household expenses.

Familia Chavez

“I am a single mother of two beautiful children. My son Deiby is 16 and is a sophomore in high school. My daughter Dulce is 17 and he is also a high school student.  Dulce works as a packer in a super market but she does not have a  salary, she must rely  on tips. I worked as a waitress, but two months ago due to COVID -19, I became unemployed. Two months without work has been very hard. Unable to sustain my rent payments, we were asked to vacate our apartment.  I was so distressed. I thank Corazon sponsors for the financial help we received. With the money you gave me I was able to buy food for my family and pay part of the two-months’ rent that I owe. May God greatly bless each one of you. My children and I are eternally grateful.”

Familia Ortiz

“Since COVID started I have not been able to work, and I depend on my two oldest children to work.  My loss of income has hit us hard and I worry constantly.  My kids are essential workers and must go out every day and risk their health. I pray for God to keep them safe.  We take extra care by wearing masks and constantly washing our hands. My youngest daughter and I have started knitting and we are making mouth cover, hats and scarves”.

Corona Huerta Family

“Hello, we are the Corona Huerta family. Thank God we are in good health but right now we are facing challenging times. I am a single mother and sole support of my three daughters.  I work cleaning houses, but because of the COVID many of my customers have cut their housekeeping service and consequently I am making much less money.  I am trying to do the best I can while we are at home.  We play board games, watch TV and my daughters study through TV and a cell phone.  I am also doing my best to make sure my girls are safe, washing their hands, and when I go out to work or to shop for food I use face masks.”

Guillen Chavez Family

“A big hug with all my heart for reaching out to us. We have a hard time financially and we thank you for the needed support. The stipend you gave us was a blessing. God bless you.”

We are touched by the sentiments and joyful faces of the families

and communities we serve.

Campos, Chavez, Ortiz, Corona, Guillen Chavez… these are the poor that Corazon serves.  We pray that their stories will motivate you to give whatever you can so that we at Corazon can sustain our mission to help the poor.  Your support is powerful. Even small donations cumulatively make a huge difference. Please give and share these stories with your family and friends.

Blessings,
